SR. CONTROLS ENGINEER

FUTURE FOAM, INC. seeks a SR. CONTROLS ENGINEER in Garland, TX to manage and lead corporate-wide engineering projects.

Responsible for electrical design, specification of the right parts, purchasing the parts, coordinating with plant managers, and executing/supervising the installs. Work with new engineers on various projects and training, mentor them on designing new control panels, panel building, and programming various hardware used across the enterprise. Design and develop the backend, real-time machine data acquisition architecture and standardizing it throughout various machines and process in various divisions. Design and implement electrical and controls safety of the machines. Evaluating the safety category of the new safety circuit and ensuring safety compliance with OSHA standards and all other electrical standards including NEC code. Make critical decisions from a controls standpoint and assist project manager with setting up new plant layout, consisting of automatic conveyor systems and automated assembly lines. Work with IT team on setting up controls network infrastructure. Design new panels and new control systems for machines using AutoCAD electrical. Supervise and verify the panel building process. Commission and program new panels and get the new/old machines production-ready. Programming hardware includes PLC, HMI, SCADA systems, VFDs, and servos. Work on process improvement projects which involves analyzing the existing process/program and making changes or writing an add-on program to reduce operation cost, production time, and improve product quality.  Review mechanical designs in Solidworks and review design criteria/calculations for new machines built in house including calculating gear ratios of all the servo axis, and all the metrics for the coordinated axis motion. Simulate the axis operation at production speed. Provide remote and on-site electrical and controls support to multiple Future Foam locations for existing and newly installed control systems. Work with Industrial Engineering staff to acquire OEE data over OPC-UA network for machines for front end setup.
