Summary Description

Future Foam is a leading manufacturer of polyurethane foam, carpet underlay and comfort products. We are looking for a successful engineering professional to fill our Project Engineer position.


This position reports to the Engineering Manager and is responsible for project design and execution activities. Responsible for working with plant operations personnel to develop scope, budgets and timelines for projects. Projects range from manufacturing process improvements to infrastructure jobs. Must work with maintenance personnel to ensure documentation, PMs and spare parts lists are updated to reflect project work. Must work with operations personnel to ensure SOPs are updated to reflect impact of process project work.


  • Ensure all project design and execution activity is done with a safety first mindset
  • Lead project development and responsible for mechanical design portions of projects
  • Provide scope and direction to controls engineers and maintenance technicians as required
  • Lead engineering activity for all phases of plant projects:  Conceptual, Preliminary, and Final Engineering
  • Lead execution of projects from fabrication to installation.
  • Provide direction and communication to contractors as required
  • Lead budgeting activity to develop and refine project budgets
  • Collaboratively develop timelines and schedules that fit within production constraints
  • Prepare capital project requests to secure project funding
  • Regularly develop project reports for management using Excel, Word, and/or PowerPoint


  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 5+ years of mechanical design of industrial equipment and processes
  • Must have good organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Must possess solid communication skills
  • Must have a working understanding of process controls
  • Must be a creative problem solver with ability to collaborate cross functionally
  • Project Management experience a must
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Proficiency in Solidworks and AutoCAD
  • Flexibility to work after hours, and some weekend and holidays if needed
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
